• My new Kobo has to be returned because it's defective.

• I caved and she got a scooter.
• Snow, rain, snow rain.  The weather here is fickle.
• Game night tomorrow! 
• Reading Delirium right now.  It's like a very toned down Equilibrium.  
• Starting to dream about gardening again.  I blame the seed catalogues.
• My New Year's resolution is to blog more.  Maybe if I had an ipad.

Friday Bullets

• Made pumpkin and caramel pies today.
• Trifle and Christmas dinner prep tomorrow.
• Still no eggs and my rabbits aren't living up to their reputations either.
•  No pheasant and no room for turkey in the oven.  Fresh Nova Scotia lobster instead.
• I'm typing one-handed because I have a sleeping baby on me.  
• Sushi Solstice party with the kids last night.  Love sushi.
• My favourite blog at the moment.
• IMO the best fireplace video on Youtube is this one.
• 2 more sleeps!!!
• Finally got some snow.

My oldest will be turning 6 next week.

Christmas Dinner

I can't actually finalize this until tomorrow night after Limey has been hunting.  So this is the almost final list of what I'm going to be cooking for the big Christmas meal.

• Pork loin with prosciutto and apples
• Roast pheasant with oyster dressing
• Potato strudel
• Sweet potato gnocchi with sage and chestnuts
• Saffron shrimp risotto
• Creamed chard
• Chive biscuits
• Beet and apple salad
• Tourtiere
• Trifle
• Fruitcake
• Butterscotch pie
• Pumpkin Pie

I suspect we'll be having goose if a pheasant fails to make an appearance.

Friday Bullets

• I feel guilty about the lack of posts but can't think of anything to post about.  Nothing is going on.  Limey works 6 days a week and we've been sick.  I'm even having trouble coming up with bullets.
• I've been reading lots.  I can't believe Terry Goodkind restarted the series.  What's with fantasy authors?  5 books is too many.  10 is ridiculous.
• Someone else is writing a novel and it isn't me.
• My novel is dead and buried, never to be resurrected.  The writing was awful. Worse than Twilight. 
• It's very warm and very windy today.  I still don't see a white Christmas. 
• Our wood is stranded on the other side of a deep muddy hole.   
• Limey has until Wednesday to kill a pheasant for Christmas dinner.  Coincidentally, Wednesday is his only day off.
• Still no eggs.
• Celebrating solstice this year now that it's no longer on dd1's birthday.  
• I dreamed that a tiger attacked me in the barn. Limey kept shooting at it and my concern was that he'd get fined for shooting a tiger out of season.
• Christmas decorations have been minimized this year.  Every year I drop further out of the commercialization of the season.  
• That said, I freakin love Christmas.  

An Early Present

I finally took a picture of the tree.  It's been wrecked and fixed several times since we first put it up.

Limey spent his day off shopping for Christmas presents.  He insisted on monopolizing an entire shelf in the fridge for a wrapped present.  At some point the kids found a grape in the sunroom where he had been wrapping.  I gave him a look and said "I hope you know that grapes won't stay fresh for longer than a couple days".   He looked slightly guilty and headed to the fridge.  While he was rummaging around I reminded him about expiry dates.   A minute later, he brings out this massive cheese basket and says "Get well soon!"

The basket was full of prosciutto, salamis, cheese, wine, fruit and crackers.  It was fabulous.  I just hope he doesn't think that he can now replace it with a different present for Christmas.   He's a bit of a cheater like that.

Friday Bullets

• Sold some more ducks.  
• Wondering how people can afford solar panels.  From what I can tell, getting off-grid will cost as much as my mortgage.  I doubt a bank will give me that loan.
• I don't think Limey will be doing any more hunting this year thanks to some crazy neighbour conflict going on out back.  
• Christmas tree is up!  I couldn't wait any longer.  
• Santa bowling party in Greenwood on the 17th.
• Put a light in the coop to try and encourage the chickens to lay.  It's been months now.  Break time is over!
• Read the first Discworld novel and really didn't like it.  I felt it was both trying to hard and not trying at all.
• My Christmas menu is out of control.  Talk me down.
